Reporting the accident
Bring your vehicle to any one of our Appointed Workshops by the next working day from the day of the accident. Our Appointed Workshop will take photographs of your vehicle and carry out the necessary e-filing of the accident. Please refer to the List of Appointed Workshop for the location and contact numbers of the workshops. Whilst you are no longer required to submit the Singapore Accident Statement ("SAS") previously introduced by the motor insurance industry, you can still use the SAS form as a guide and reference on the information needed for the e-filing of the accident.

Claiming for Own Damage (i.e. repair to your vehicle)
You must send your vehicle to our Appointed Workshop if your policy has a clause requiring you to repair
your vehicle at our Appointed Workshops. You must check your policy for such a clause. For your convenience,
you should carry out the accident reporting at the Appointed Workshops where you wish to have your vehicle
repaired. The workshop will send the repair quotation to HSBC Insurance. We will appoint a motor assessor
to survey the damage of your vehicle and authorise repair once all evidence and documents are found to be
in order.
If your vehicle is still under the car manufacturer's original warranty and your policy has a clause to allow
repair of your vehicle at the car distributor's authorised workshop during the original warranty period, you may
send your vehicle to the car distributor's authorised workshop after reporting the accident. Please note that
before repair can be carried out, the damage must be surveyed and repair approved by HSBC Insurance.
WARNING
Please check your policy to confirm if you are required to carry out repair to your vehicle at our
Appointed Workshop and whether you are allowed to repair your vehicle at the car distributor's
authorised workshop if it is still within the manufacturer's original warranty.
Claiming against the Third Party (ie. The other party responsible for the accident)
If you feel that the accident was due to the fault of a third party, you may file a claim against the responsible
party directly. Although you are not making a claim under your own policy, you should still report the accident
to us for record purposes. You are also encouraged to repair your vehicle at our Appointed Workshop. Our
Appointed Workshop can assist you with your claim against the third party.
Claiming for windscreen damage (Windscreen Claim)
If you are making a windscreen claim, you do not need to complete the SAS form. You can make a claim for
windscreen repair by completing a windscreen claim form at any of our Appointed Workshops when you send
your vehicle there for repair.
If your vehicle is still under the car manufacturer's original warranty and your policy has a clause to allow
repair of your vehicle at the car distributor's authorised workshop during the original warranty period, you may
replace your windscreen at the authorised car distributor's workshop. Please note that before repair can be
carried out, HSBC Insurance must approve it. Please check your policy for the relevant clauses.
What to do when you are involved in a traffic accident
• Stay calm and check if anyone is injured.
• If someone is injured, call 995 or 999 for ambulance and police assistance. Do not remove your vehicle unless
absolutely necessary.
• If no one is injured, drive your vehicle to the side of the road or to a safe area so that it does not cause obstruction
to traffic.
• Do not admit liability or contest who is at fault.
• If you have a camera with you, take photographs of the accident scene and the damaged vehicles/properties
(showing the relative positions of the vehicles and extent of damages).
• Take note of and exchange the following information and particulars with the other party involved in the traffic
accident:
- Date, time and location of the accident
- Vehicle registration number of all vehicles involved
- Make/model/colour of the vehicle(s)
- Name, NRIC, address and contact number(s) of the other driver(s) and any witness
- Insurance company of the other driver/vehicle
- The extent of damage to your vehicle and to the other vehicle and/or other property
• Complete the Singapore Accident Statement ("SAS") form (See "Insurance Claim Reporting" below").
• If you need any assistance on towing service or on insurance claim reporting, you can call our 24-hour Accident
Hotline manned by International SOS on 6339 5524. Do not allow your vehicle to be towed by any
unauthorised tow trucks or operators.
• Report (e-file) the accident at any HSBC Insurance Appointed Workshop by the next working day of the
accident together with your vehicle even if there is no damage to your vehicle. You must report all accident
even if you are not filing a claim under your policy and regardless whether you are at fault or not.
WARNING
Late reporting or non-reporting of an accident will lead to a 10% deduction of your No Claim
Discount (NCD) over and above the usual NCD deduction for the accident and may prejudice your
ability to seek indemnity under your motor insurance.
Making a Police Report
Filing a Police Report is mandatory under the following situation even if you do not wish to file an insurance claim.
• You must make a Police Report within 24 hours of the accident if it
- results in injury
- involves a foreign registered vehicle
- involves a government vehicle (eg police car, fire engine, military vehicle)
- results in damage to government property (eg traffic lights, lamp post),
• You must also make a Police Report if your vehicle is lost and theft is suspected.
